NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The City of North Myrtle Beach is proud to announce the addition of its new Inflatable Fire Safety Education House, a valuable tool designed to engage and educate the youth in our community about fire safety. This interactive, child-friendly educational resource will be used at schools, community events, and safety programs to provide hands-on learning experiences that promote fire prevention and emergency preparedness.
The Inflatable Fire Safety Education House is ADA compliant, ensuring that children of all abilities can participate in the fire safety education experience. The house features smoke simulation, safe escape routes, and hazard identification activities, allowing children to practice real-life fire safety techniques and learn how to safely evacuate in case of an emergency. The inflatable model was chosen as it is more portable and much easier to set up in remote locations versus the previous fire safety trailer originally purchased over 20 years ago.
"Our goal is to empower the youngest members of our community to understand fire safety in a way that is both engaging and memorable," said Fire Chief Billy Floyd. "By using this inflatable house at schools and local events, we are giving children the skills they need to react safely in a fire emergency and make smart decisions that could one day save lives. In turn, they will take that information back home to their families. Our mission statement reads, ‘North Myrtle Beach Fire Department is dedicated to savings lives, protecting property, and making our community a safer place to live and visit’. The addition of this new safety house helps us in achieving that mission statement in an effort to prevent fires before they even start."
The North Myrtle Beach Fire Department will bring the Inflatable Fire Safety Education House to various community events and to schools throughout the year. This initiative is part of the department’s ongoing commitment to enhancing public safety and increasing awareness about fire prevention.
Parents, educators, and community leaders are encouraged to participate in upcoming fire safety events, where children can interact with firefighters, learn essential safety tips, and experience the Inflatable Fire Safety Education House firsthand.
